Horizons has a multi-tiered job application. To be a Horizons teacher, employees must meet Horizons standards (interviews, peer performance reviews) and State of Florida standards (extensive background checks, CPR-First Aid certification, and 10 hours of yearly continuing education classes). We hire teachers that are continually learning from our professional peers, families, and the best teachers of all, the children!

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct preschool-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth

  • Create a fun and safe learning environment

  • Develop and Follow schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, and playtime

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and coworkers

  • Communicate with parents on students' growth and progress

  • Maintain the health and safety of all students

Qualifications:

  • CDA or Bachelors Required in related field

  • First Aid & CPR certified

  • 45 DCF mandated hours with the certificate of completion

  • 2 years previous experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields

  • Passionate about working with children

  • Ability to build rapport with children

  • Positive and patient demeanor

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
